How to get live translation in Google Meet, Zoom and Microsoft Teams

All three have a built-in option on paid plans. Google Meet speaks the translation, in 63 languages, on eligible Workspace plans and Google AI Pro or Ultra. Zoom shows translated captions, text only, in 36 languages, when the host has Business Plus, an Enterprise plan or the add-on. Teams has Interpreter, spoken translation in 10 languages, with a Microsoft 365 Copilot license. If your plan has none of them, Owaa Live Interpreter lets you hear a meeting open in Chrome in your language. As of October 2026.

Google Meet: speech translation

Gemini in Meet translates what people say and speaks it in each listener’s language, with captions that follow the translated audio.

  1. Join a meeting organized by someone on an eligible plan.
  2. Turn on translation with the translation control in the meeting toolbar. It is off when a meeting starts.
  • 63 languages, in any combination, on the web, Android and iOS. Google added automatic spoken-language detection on 2026-10-22.
  • Plans: Business Standard and Plus, Enterprise Standard and Plus, Frontline Plus, and Google AI Pro and Ultra, plus some AI add-ons. Google says all participants can use it when the organizer is on an eligible plan.
  • Admins can turn it off under the Gemini settings for Google Meet.

Zoom: translated captions

Zoom translates speech into captions. It does not speak the translation.

  1. Click Show Captions, then the up arrow next to it.
  2. Under Captions and translation, turn on Translation.
  3. Pick your language and click Save.
  • The host needs Zoom Workplace Business Plus, Enterprise Essentials, Enterprise Plus or Enterprise Premier, or the Translated Captions add-on, and the host’s settings decide which language pairs are offered.
  • Zoom lists 36 fully supported languages, including Arabic, Cantonese, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, Tagalog and Vietnamese.
  • It needs the Zoom desktop app or the Zoom web app.

Microsoft Teams: Interpreter and translated captions

Interpreter is spoken translation: you hear the translation over the speaker’s audio.

  1. In the meeting, select More actions, then Language and speech, then Interpreter.
  2. Select Turn on for me, pick the language you want to hear, and select Turn on.
  • Ten languages: English, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, Simplified Chinese (Mandarin), Italian, German, French, Korean and Taiwanese.
  • It needs a Microsoft 365 Copilot license, which includes 20 hours of interpretation per person per month.
  • Not available in Teams Free meetings, ad-hoc meetings, town halls or webinars. For calls, only one-to-one Teams calls, not phone-number calls.
  • Translated captions, text only, need Teams Premium or Microsoft 365 Copilot. If the organizer has the license, everyone in the meeting can use them.

  3. Click the Owaa icon and pick the language you want to hear.

  • About 100 languages to listen in.
  • It costs 1.0 credit per minute from your Owaa wallet.
  • Only the audio of the tab you start is sent to Owaa, and only while the session runs.
  • You can save the transcript as .txt, .srt or Markdown.

Before you translate a meeting

  • Owaa Live Interpreter translates what you hear. The others do not hear your words translated.
  • Tell the other participants when you translate or transcribe a meeting, and follow your organization’s rules.
