What the extension sends

Only while dictation is on: after you press the shortcut, your microphone audio is streamed to Owaa’s translation service at owaa.ai, together with your language and the language to type in. The translated text comes back and is inserted into the text field you are typing in. Dictation stops when you press the shortcut again, after 3 seconds without speech, or after 60 seconds, whichever comes first.

What it does not send

The extension never sends the contents of text fields or of the page you are on, never sends browsing history, and does not use the microphone while dictation is off.

Your Owaa account

You sign in with your Owaa account on owaa.ai. The extension keeps a sign-in token in your browser so it can request translations for you; it never sees your password. Translation minutes are charged to your Owaa credit balance.

What Owaa stores

The audio and the text are translated as they stream and are not stored by Owaa. Owaa records usage — the product, the minutes used, the languages and the time — against your account for billing. Ordinary server logs (time, IP address, request size) are kept for security and abuse prevention for a limited period.

Sharing

Speech recognition, translation and synthesis run on Google Cloud (Speech-to-Text, Translation and Gemini models) in Owaa’s own Google Cloud project. Nothing is sold or used for advertising.

Your controls

The microphone is used only while dictation is on, and you can revoke the microphone permission in the extension’s site settings at any time. Signing out or removing the extension deletes the sign-in token and your settings.
